Combining low warping and high strength: deformed cross-section chopped strands.

Changing the cross-section of glass fibers, exceeding the limits of molding. Nitto Boseki's "Flat Fiber" achieves high-dimensional dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties.

Nitto Bo's "Non-Circular Cross-Section Chopped Strand (Flat Fiber)" is a reinforcement material for thermoplastic resins (FRTP) that features a flat cross-sectional shape, such as rectangular or oval, differing from conventional circular glass fibers. It was developed as a solution for manufacturing sites struggling with "insufficient strength" and "deformation and warping" of molded products. Its greatest feature is the ability to minimize the difference in resin shrinkage rates between the flow direction (MD) and the transverse direction (TD). This enables significant reduction in warping of molded products and achieves extremely high dimensional accuracy. Furthermore, due to the orientation of the fibers, not only is surface smoothness improved, but it also boasts excellent flowability, allowing for reliable filling from thin-walled precision parts to large components. Particularly in high-filling areas with increased glass fiber content (GF), it exhibits superior mechanical properties, significantly surpassing the tensile strength and impact resistance (Izod impact value) of round cross-section products (conventional products). This is a proven product already on the market that strongly supports the manufacturing of high-quality, durable plastic molded products across various industries, including electrical and electronic devices, automotive, and aerospace.
